Brake Actuator, Model 6 (formerly #4744901). This Dexter Model 6 surge brake actuator is equipped with a adjustable channel. Unit is designed to work with drum brakes and bolts to a 3" wide trailer tongue. Rated for up to 8,000 lbs. with a maximum tongue weight of 800 lbs. Includes breakaway device. Zinc plate finish.

Surge Actuators provide sound and safe braking and is accomplished by replacing the trailer's standard tongue coupler with a surge actuator and adding hydraulic brake end units. The "surge" or "push" of the trailer toward the tow vehicle during deceleration automatically synchronizes the trailer brakes with the tow vehicle brakes. As the trailer pushes against the towing vehicle, the actuator telescopes together and applies force to its master cylinder, supplying hydraulic pressure to the trailer's brakes.
